The SD100 Alarm Relay normally operates from 240V AC and provides alarm and fault relays with change over voltage free contacts rated at 240V AC 10A (resistive) or 2.5A (inductive).
Designed to operate primarily with optical type smoke detectors used to detect the presence of smoke in airconditioning ducts or other enclosed spaces.
Up to 20 detectors can be connected in parallel to the unit. The last detector must have a 10k ohm resistor, (EOL), connected as shown on the wiring diagram. The EOL is supplied with the unit. This resistor is necessary to keep the Fault Relay energised under normal operation.
Should the connection to the detectors be interrupted, the Fault Relay will be de-energised and its contacts used to activate an external fault lamp or alarm. The green “Normal” LED will not be lit in this circumstance. The red "Alarm" LED indicates that one or more smoke detectors are in alarm.
The SD100 is not self latching in alarm mode but relies on the self latching of the detectors attached to it. The “Reset” button on the front of the housing interrupts the detector power supply causing the detector(s) to reset.
The housing is made of polycarbonate and is IP67 rated. It is not designed for external mounting where it may be subject to rain and direct sunlight.
NB. The SD100 is not suitable for direct connection to the Fire Services.
Supply requirement: 240V AC 0.1A
Internal Supply: 24V DC 315mA
Detector Terminals: 20 to 23V DC (dependant on detector load). Falls to less than 6V DC in alarm condition. Detector terminals can be short circuited without causing any damage.
Output: Fault and Alarm Relays - change over voltage free contacts rated at 10A (res) or 2.5A (ind).
Dimensions: 125mm x 125mm x 85mm (L x W x H)
